We follow the true heroic stories of Rosen and Uri, who travel from their home countries of Bulgaria and Ukraine in search of a better life.
On the journey to their new lives, they meet and become friends, only later to shoulder each other's burdens as they realise the new life, initially hoped to be a blessing, was hijacked into a life of modern-day slavery for hard labour in Greece.
They become complicit with their new masters to stay alive, and the joy of their former lives and family feels like a distant memory. They are punished for the slightest mishap and witness the pain and suffering of other "employees" on the farm.
Uri, originally from Ukraine, is motivated to escape as he learns of the war breaking out and the impending doom he feels for his only family, his "Babusya"; he tries to convince Rosen of an escape route.
Rosen is fearful and angry at Uri, and their friendship is torn as Rosen refuses to help in what he feels is a suicide mission. However, Uri continues regardless and ultimately gets caught by the trafficking gang, and Rosen and other victims believe he could now be dead.
Rosen then casts aside his fear and decides to get help by the very means Uri explained to him. He begs a local shopkeeper to use his phone, who is initially reluctant but concedes, seeing his genuine demise. This sets the scene for their intervention leading to their deliverance.
