Unconditional Love
April 2022 - May 2022 Programme
For blue-haired Steve, it's just another day working at his mom's candy store in Montauk. That is, until the girl of his dreams suddenly walks in. Her name is Strawberry; she has red highlights and an edgy sense of style. She doesn’t seem like one for small talk as she walks up to the counter and bluntly asks Steve for skittles, but Steve is visibly rattled by her uniqueness. Strawberry then pulls out a disposable camera and takes a photo of him. She leaves, Steve regrets his flustered reaction, and retreats into self pity. For consolation, he opens up a pack of sour skittles and pours it in his mouth. They are too sour! He reaches for a bottle of strawberry soda and drinks that next. As he drinks the soda, he has a lightbulb moment. He begins decorating the store in a strawberry theme design, in hopes of getting the girl’s attention. He switches all the candy to red, hangs up huge strawberry cutouts, adorns the walls with strawberry cutouts, and even hangs a large strawberry pinata from the ceiling. As the end of the day approaches, Steve loses hope of Strawberry coming back. He is turning the sign to “close” when Strawberry walks in. Steve is ecstatic that she has come back. She is amazed to see the store decorated with strawberries and asks if he still has that sour pack of skittles. He abashedly admits that he ate the skittles, but offers her different candies. The two talk for some time until Steve musters up the courage to ask her if she would like to go watch the sunset with him and eat some special candies. Strawberry is flattered and agrees to the date. They go watch the beautiful Montauk sunset. They are laughing, having fun and being playful with one another, sticking candies on each other’s faces. Steve makes his move and leans in, but Strawberry has an idea. She grabs two big candy red lips, they each put them on, and their wax lips meet in a kiss.

The Good Deed
April 2022 - May 2022 Programme
In the arena of Renaissance art, Leonardo was the undisputed heavyweight champ; Michelangelo the brash, talented contender.
In 1503, master manipulator Niccolo Macchiavelli orchestrated an artistic competition between the middle-aged, refined Leonardo and the up-and-coming, roughshod Michelangelo. They were commissioned to paint competing frescoes in the Council of the Hall of 500 inside the Palazzo Vecchio in their native Florence. And, it was witnessed first-hand by a 21-year-old phenom named Raphael.
This titanic battle, one of the most extraordinary episodes of the Renaissance, changed the world of art forever.
There is a sidebar of interest to this true story. The Italians have taken a page from director Jim Cameron's book of hi-tech tricks to help illuminate the ghosts of the past. The City of Florence, with financing from the Kalpa Group of Switzerland, is underwriting art detective Maurizio Seracini's quest to prove that Leonardo's unfinished fresco, "The Battle of Anghiari," still exists in the Hall of the 500 behind a wall and fresco built and painted by 16th Century artist and biographer, Giorgio Vasari.
The search continues.

What nobody knows is that a love between two young people is about to break this barrier that is much bigger than the fence that divides the fields. The passion between Rodrigo and Juliana could be the point of recovery for a relationship marked by so many years of hatred, but, like Shakespeare's original story, the human being is much more complex and inexplicable. April 2022 - May 2022 Programme
The documentary is the story of a child witness to the tragic 1956 Hungarian Revolution who emigrated to the U.S. as a refugee. As an adult the child witness becomes an award-winning poet and translator. 60 years after the revolution Peter Hargitai travels back to Hungary with his adult son to recover his past. The visit evokes the then 9-year-old’s memories of the revolution in the maelstrom of death and violence. In the ensuing 60 years builds bridges between the Hungarian and English language, between people and the two cultures. Peter Hargitai wrote his novel DAUGHTER OF THE REVOLUTION for its 50th anniversary not only to rid himself of his demons but, above all, to pay tribute to the brave schoolgirls, some as young as 14, who had taken their fight for freedom to the streets of Budapest. But his is also a story of a refugee who finds humanity beyond borders and nationality. Under the direction of Tünde Tálas scenes from the author's book are animated and weaved into the narrative to bring the events in Peter Hargitai’s novel to life. Her film, structurally innovative, enriched by original scores and informed by historical and personal motifs, maintains its artful balance. The lessons from the students of Budapest are both timely and timeless.

Maeta's Story
April 2022 - May 2022 Programme
"It's an Italian Thing. No, It's a Black Thing" is a comedy (with dramatic turns) in which a middle-aged Italian American white transgender woman (Frankie) feels pressure about identity differences with a much younger Black pansexual girlfriend (Tanasia). At first, Frankie strives to impress Tanasia's mother (Winnie) , using a delicious meat lasagna as suggested by her older brother (Jimmy), but something goes awry. Then pressure comes to Frankie from her mother Carmela and Aunt Sophie to face the difficulties of their mismatch (e.g. race, gender, sexuality, age, culture), and surprising changes erupt as some doors close while others open.
Warm and light-hearted comedy but yet poignant in its treatment of prejudices. Note from author- I envision the story being told as a play, short-film, or pilot for a TV series. Important DEI (Diversity Equity Inclusion) story that is bound to shape people's views and feelings, triggering debate, dialogue and perhaps positive changes.

An inner view - a view that connects with nature. It is a homage to nature. It invites the viewer to pause, to listen, to immerse, to empathise, to find back.... "My dear quarantine" is a short, simple story from the time of pandemic–a poetic view of isolation, loneliness and boredom.
The inspiration for the film came during the complete lockdown, when many of us suffered from being closed up in concrete cubes. At the same time, however, something extraordinary happened: wild animals all over the world, intrigued by the sudden silence and peace, visited city centers. Animals walked the city streets, looked into the houses through windows and fences, got to know the charms of the playgrounds and–apparently–had a lot of fun. Their curiosity and innocence contrasted with our loneliness and fears, my dear quarantine portrays that special, poetic moment.
This project is the animation debut of puppeteer and theatre director Ewa Maria Wolska, who, as all theatre people around the globe, couldn’t work in live theatre, or meet with audiences during the last year. This film was made in her own apartment, which was converted into a home animation studio.

Musician and painter, Randall Vemer, has once again expanded his talent pool; this time into filmmaking.
In a nearly 12-minute biographical documentary, Vemer reveals what happened when his ability to play his beloved viola was taken away.
The film is filled with striking portraits of the people and instruments by which he's been surrounded for much of his life. And always the educator, the hauntingly lovely music is scored and timed, not only to enhance the viewer's enjoyment of Vemer's classical style images but also to point out which instrument is highlighted within the rich and ethereal paintings.
Randall Vemer's musical bio-doc is a moving tribute to the creativity, discipline, and heart of this incredibly talented man.

Masilamani is a suspect in a murder case and cops take him in custody for investigation. The movie starts with a middle-aged Masilamani being interrogated by police personnel in a police station. The audience gets to hear only the voices of everyone else other than Masilamani. The deputy commissioner is leading the interrogation. Though some other cops in the unit suggest that they better use the typical police interrogation technique (which uses force and human right violation techniques), the deputy commissioner refuses to say that there is already a letter from human rights commission that they will be watching over this investigation. At some point, it becomes clear that Masilamani has a kid who needs medication and even with medication Masilamani's son Mahesh is expected to live only for a few more years. Masilamani outwits the cops during the interrogation and hence a lady psychologist is brought in to help solve the case. It is revealed that Masilamani's wife(Usha) is dead and her body is presently held at the mortuary. Eventually, Masilamani starts to confess to not only the one murder he was accused of but also to two more murders; all three of which happened using the same Modus Operandi (MO).

A dysfunctional society controlled by a toxic leader produces the absurd reality of illiberal politics. It's hard to understand, even harder to fight and is becoming an alarming global tendency of our times. A small state in central Europe is leading the way. The author of Tyranny is introducing a documentary musical that is protesting autocracy with a public art object. Not long ago an angular black hole appeared temporarily in the center of the nation's square that proved to be invisible for Hungarians. This doc is a short glimpse at tyranny from the angle of anxiety. Through archive footage showing a line of Hungarian tyrants stepping on the stage of history at Budapest Heroes square to lead their nation into the abyss of demolition over and over again.
Can the sole autocratic EU member state escape its tragic fate if it can not face neither its past nor reality, while acting like one suffering complex post traumatic stress disorder?
