A perfect day
June 2022 - July 2022 Programme
"Party? Do we have to do that now?" "Yes!" says Alexander Dettke.
In 2013, he and his team founded the music and culture festival "Wilde Möhre" in Lusatia. A space that makes encounters possible without the conventions of everyday life. It's not just about dancing and partying. It's about a place that inspires change.
Due the pandemic, this cultural experiment is about to come to an end. But Alex doesn't think so...
Patrick Protz and Dennis Groß accompanied Alexander Dettke and his team from the first lockdown in spring 2020 until summer 2021. A time full of uncertainties, extraordinary encounters and many thoughts about the value that music, dance and culture has for all of us - on carefree but even more on gloomy days.

“Os, Ingen” (“We, nobody”) is a dance short that takes place on man-made territory, a group of people forms in a sterile universe and moves in the contradiction between the primordial and the socially accepted.
It reflects on instinctual behaviour: What is human instinct ? What is suppressed ? Is individuality a new form of primal survival ? A new Instinct ?
While questioning the default to blindly follow community, “Os, ingen" is an ode to the primal desire to connect.
What would happen if you woke up one day and found your self in a world of blind bodies ?
We the nobodies, the humans -- when did we become somebody ?

Immediately after joining a news channel as cameraman Abhin was assigned to cover Ronchordji, the most dreaded terrorist, accompanied by veteran reporter Sujit secretly. A bike-rider picked them up into the jungle from a specific spot. However the slated meeting was declared cancelled by two armed men on the way. They decided to stay back. Next day Abhin left the hotel to capture the landscape as it had a distinguished clarity, but didn’t return ; neither could he be contacted. Paranoid Sujit intimated his immediate senior. Concerned authorities conducted an emergency meeting and concluded the incident as abduction by the terrorist due to a previous threat on media. Actually authority was in a hurry to capture the moment for a sensational breaking news than to find out the truth. Next day their arc rival channel scooped out the news of his inglorious death in a road side red light area. Emotionally broken, mentally perplexed, socially ostracized Anandi, Abhin's wife, stood alone in this crossfire of truth, half truth and lie. 4 film grads give 4 film pitches, but there's only 1 outcome!
Four close film obsessed friends and recently graduated film students hold a production meeting to plan their first feature film. They discuss the state of Hollywood and how are they ever going to come up with an original idea if Hollywood has struggled since 1903, when Edwin S. Porter' first film 'The Great Train Robbery ' was remade only a year later in 1904!
A very nuanced film with heaps of film history buried in a laugh out loud script with great characters who you will fall in love with really quickly. We will feel and see each of their fantastical streams of consciousness ooze from every pore as they tell the others of their 'great movie ideas'. The classic notes of the piano, powerful and simultaneously soft, sustain in their essence the enchanting/embracing melody of "fammi sentire in un sogno/let me be in a dream" the new single of Claire D.
This poetic and melancholic monologue claimed and celebrate an elapsed time/a past in which takes place a story of lost empathy and sharing. The main character's desire to find another link is that deep that he tries to reach a new shareable dimension, within dream and reality, past and present: a privileged scope/main space that is used by a son in order to see once again his mother behind the eyes of a woman affected by Alzheimer, a woman that not only is a stranger for him but also for herself.
The song/the tune belongs to the new album "voglio vivere così/I want to live this way", that is an author music project with a predominantly jazz arrangement and the lyrics deal with consistent social topics.

Claire D. - Let me be in a dream
June 2022 - July 2022 Programme
Nandhu, a wealthy, film financier is absconding from the media and the police, wanted in connection with a suicide he may be responsible for.
With his wife and child gone, fallen prey to the rumours, he finds no will to stick around. Trying to get away from everything and everyone, he journeys through the struggles of his internal
guilt, whiles searching for the man responsible for it all.
He’s not guilty of the crime he’s been accused of, but that isn’t to say that he hasn’t been tormented by guilt for a long time. He goes to an old dilapidated building of some consequence to his past, now sealed by the court.
He records a voice note on his phone, to make it clear to the world who he really is. He clarifies that he’s not as bad as the media portrays him to be, he’s way worse! As
he walks through the shambles covered in plant growth, he speaks about the defining moments of his life; and corresponding visuals appear on screen, as randomly as his
stream of thought. Unaware that his mother is dead, all covered in her blood, lay his tiny infant hands gripping her chest, trying to suckle for milk. So horrific was his introduction to the
world. He grew up in a valueless society, filled with lust, greed, temptation and betrayal. Having seen only downers all his life, he learnt to fight hard, to do whatever it takes to survive in this cruel world which metamorphosed him into someone he
despises himself.
This story of guilt and trauma unfolds in the most unexpected ways when the protagonist interacts with the elements of his past. We follow him, as a reflection of his shadow, eventually leading us to only one question… will Nandhu find redemption?
This is a tale about a dark, gloomy man, searching for a tiny speck of light, ignoring the shadow that walks behind him; not realising that the shadow is evidence of light’s
existence.

When the “little green men” took over Crimea in 2014, Father Ivan openly condemned the invasion. It was impossible for him just to calmly observe what was happening, and just keep quietly living in his house with a garden, an apiary, and a church that he built with his own hands. From this point on the lives of Father Ivan, his wife Svetlana and their four children, two of whom are also priests, became forever divided into "before" and "after"... THE GLOVED ONE
June 2022 - July 2022 Programme
Sergeant Al Ramon and Officer Luis Mendez know that policing New York City essentially means managing chaos. The volume of radio calls for police service makes it virtually impossible to patrol and enforce the law for every infraction of state penal law. Beneath the city, policing is even more challenging. Officers patrolling Transit Manhattan South face the same hazards as street crime cops, but the tunnels and trains make it much more difficult to affect an apprehension; the transit systems provides criminals with an elaborate labyrinth that help them elude to police.
When Sergeant Ramon is ordered to tighten discipline and improve the transit cops' performance through the N.Y.P.D's tickets and arrests quotas, he faces a tough decision: motivate "activity" or lose his job due to department budget cuts. Watching his platoon every move is newly-assigned Inspector Dek, sent in to ensure transit officers meet the departments demands.
MoleMen, a dark, fictional comedy, is loosely based on the politics and policing in New York City. Follow Ramon and Mendez as they try to save their transit buddies' jobs. You'll experience the same day-to-day frustrations and pressures police officers feel to issue summonses and make the arrests that sell the public on efficient policing. MoleMen shows how quickly officers can lose touch with the public as they generate the quotas for which One Police Plaza and the mayor hunger.

“In Venus” is a short dance film taking place in a sunlit milky universe. Four women dressed in wedding dresses and pastel colours, move their way through a sports field, the cover of a magazine, a laundromat and somewhere with their limbs in the clouds with the view over the city. The expression of the music and the movement is contrasting the pastel aesthetic as it subtilely opposes the expectation.
It is based on the need of 4 characters to question their own identity as women and their relationship to desire and shame.
It reflects on the moments when growing up in which we loose part of our Innocence and fluidity. We realise shame. A change in the gaze of the other. Our sexuality, our need to objectify or to be objectified. Our need to be good, respectful, respectable, desirable and our need to be everything but.
During the film we as viewers are confronted with the shame and stigma of female body. At the same time brought to a state of simplicity and childlike purity in the physical presence.
“In Venus” is an ode to womanhood and its community, an ode to the pure and the vulgar, a re-evaluation of "woman", and a feast on an almost utopian power of womanhood. Womanhood as the potency to not solely be “woman”.

The Tarahumara in northwestern México are among the poorest native peoples in Latin America. Not often you may find peoples like them living in a kind of cultural resistance but even though in an unespectedly peacefull manner. The french poet and surrealist Antonin Artaud while staying with the Tarahumara in the late 30’s last century then wrote: „They are a challenge for this world which undoubtedly is talking so often about progress because it already lost any hope for enhancing so much.“ These people live according to their own statements as if they already were dead. They call themselves „Rarámuri“ what means „the footrunners“. In fact they are among the best long range runners in the world. Inspite of the pressures of modern civilization they maintain until these days their traditional behaviour and organization. This documentary is examplifying this culture by describing the life of maskcarver Simón Morales.

The film comes to appropriate and re-discuss the Brazilian reality, based on the dialogues, excerpts and scenes from Glauber Rocha visceral films and his desire to "remove the masks", from ou third world saga. In this scenario where love and violence coexist in a state of inequality and often abandonment.
The language of the film dialogues with the style of the program ABERTURA showned in 1979 on Brazilian TV , during the end of the military dictatorship. Today, forty years later, our fragile democracy is once again at risk and, unfortunately Glauber's words are still very much alive, and the backdrop of his characters are the Brazilian people with their political and social contradictions. We aspired to bring forth the creative energy of Glauber, his nonconformist behaviour and desire to interfere in the Brazilian reality.

In August and September of 1922, the beautiful port of Smyrna became Ground Zero for one of the greatest human tragedies. It was the last violent episode in a ten-year holocaust that had killed three million people—Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians, all Christian minorities—on the Turkish subcontinent between 1912 and 1922. It would also serve as a marker of the end of the Ottoman Empire.
Smyrna was reduced to ashes as the Armenian quarter of the city was set fire with petroleum gasoline by the Turkish troops on September 13th according to sources. The Greek, Armenian and Levantine quarters were completely incinerated while the Turkish and Jewish sections survived.
The respected peace between Christians and Muslims was over in Smyrna. What ensued over the next months was nothing less than tragic and catastrophic.

June 2022 - July 2022 Programme
The movie is a visual stimulation raising unique human qualities - compassion, empathy, trust, spirituality, unconditional love, and forgiveness. There is no difference between religion or those that practice them - we are all one, praising divine love.
The hunter and the prey all belong of the cycle of life. Compassion leads them to oneness, erasing duality. All art forms - music, paintings, poetry, mathematics, and dance - glorify the beauty of creation. Human relationships come in turbulent waves but dissolve into an ocean of forgiveness. The mother and child form an unbreakable bond of unconditional trust and affection.
The human mind is capable of shining like a thousand stars if left unhindered in the darkness and the quiet. We are many lost souls, woven into the fabric of the cosmos. Stitched together by spirit and love.
